Breakfast/lunch/dinner labels
« am: April 30, 2004, 22:53 »
Suggestion: I keep a fairly irregular schedule, so there will be times when a reading taken at 9:30 at night will be before bed, or just after dinner, or before dinner. In a future version you should consider allowing someone to add that label to the data value, (when entered into the grid) as opposed to assuming it for all data values in a time period.

I will think about how to include this functionality (since the PPC's screens are out of space :kratz: ) but I've put it to the Dev-list for a future version!  :ja:

My best guess would be a setting that changes behavior on the grid. When you put focus on one of the grid cells for test measurement, you would get a menu that allowed you to input measurement specific comments. The bigger issue I suspect is that you would have to store this information per measurement. (On reflection, it would be nice to have a comment per measurement too, so I could note that the low value was because I played three sets of tennis this morning. )

I would also like a way to export the data in the traditional logbook format. (columns for breakfast, lunch dinner, etc0- rows for each day).

This is already possible. You only have to type in the time for any remark you want to be set. And you can decide if you want to store this text for further entries. Just have a look at the remark-field under the main grid.

Oh maybe it´s traditional in your old logbook, but in the logbooks we used before (from Novo Nordisk) there were only time-dependent columns.

But I think for former users from different logs it would be a pretty good idea if they could store theire datas with a little flag, which indicates the meal-dependent situation of this measurement. Then it would be easier to list measurements in meal-dependent columns like in your suggestion.

(Sorry for my poor english  :nixweiss:)

I previously used Diabetes Pilot on the Palm and it is very helpful to be able to designate a category for each glucose reading. I also have an erratic schedule and you can't tell from the time of day whether it is before lunch, after lunch etc.  In that program each time you added a BG reading a list of categories popped up (which you could edit in the settings function - for example "after exercise", "after hypo" etc) and you selected the category for the reading.
You could then do your statistics based on specific categories or all the data.  I can see that this will be my biggest problem is switching over to Sidiary.
How do you associate a Remark with a specific time?

Hello Sharon and welcome to our forum :winke:

I would say it only seems to be helpfull.
The fact is, that our BG-Level and also our Insulin-doses depends on the daytime, not on the meals itselfs. And if you call your first meal of a day 'breakfast', then nobody knows, if it´s been eaten before or after noon.
So in my way of thinking the SiDiary-way ist the more realistic way.

Oh you can use GlucoPilot and SiDiary as well. One of our members has written a little tool that help to convert GlucoPilot-Files into a SiDiary-readable format. You can find the download-site here (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.andi-heitzer.de%2Fdiabetes%2Fsw_sidiary%2Fstart.html&langpair=de%7Cen&hl=de&ie=UTF-8&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools), translated by Google.

At this time I have to write it down by hand, but Alf is working on a new version, in which you can fill out by clicking. :ja:

Hi SHARON

I previously used Diabetes Pilot on the Palm and it is very helpful to be able to designate a category for each glucose reading. I also have an erratic schedule and you can't tell from the time of day whether it is before lunch, after lunch etc.

I'm using Glucopilot V1.5 on my Palm Vx  :super:

In that program each time you added a BG reading a list of categories popped up (which you could edit in the settings function - for example "after exercise", "after hypo" etc) and you selected the category for the reading.
You could then do your statistics based on specific categories or all the data.  I can see that this will be my biggest problem is switching over to Sidiary.

The selection based on categories is very helpfull  :ja:

How do you associate a Remark with a specific time?

I wrote a script to convert the GlocoPilot-Notes into a readable SIDIARY format.
My last fix included the timestamp to a note. So you can associate the time to a note  :banane:

If you like to have a look at my converter, goto http://www.andi-heitzer.de an navigate to 'DIABETES' on the left.
At last use the section ' Mein Glucopilot mit SIDIARY'.

I hope you can understand a little bit german. Otherwise i have to write a short intro in english :kratz:
