successful install then crash
snapdragon:
I successfully installed sidiary 6 and was using the software both on my pc and on my smartphone. My pc is running windows 7 and my smartphone is running winmo 6.5 professional.
1. I started experiencing errors on the smartphone and the app wouldn't start. I unfortunately did not write down the details of the error message. I uninstalled the app and now it won't reinstall. I keep getting a "Config file couldn't be opened." error. Any ideas how to resolve this? I tried re-downloading the .cab and this doesn't resolve the issue.
2. After the crashes with the mobile app, I started experiencing problems with the desktop app. I can log into the software and it seems to authenticate put then closes. If I put in an invalid password it tells me, so I'm assuming the sudden closure is a validated password. I get no error message and there is nothing logged to the windows events.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
sls

I got the pc version up and running. I had to manually remove the registry entries, and remove the folders and files from the AppData folder. This stuff isn't removed when you uninstall. The uninstall wizard seems to leave a lot of things behind that mess with a re-install.
I'm still having trouble getting the winmo app to install again. I'm going through my device and trying to find the pieces left behind that might be interfering with the installer.

If a file could not be opened then the file or its location is damaged. The only config file SiDiary needs on your Smartphone is the SiDiary.ini, which is located in the same folder as the SiDiary6Smp.exe (or the SiDiary6PPC.exe if you have installed the Touchscreen version).
In this case I would delete this .ini, because it will be re-created if you start SiDiary the next time.

Yes, as designed.

As designed: all your data and the config stuff, so you always have a chance to uninstall and re-install without any loss of data in case there are some problems with the program binaries.

I suggest to make sure to install the right version. If you delete your SiDiary program folder there are no other files which could make trouble with a new install. If you still have trouble please try to install it directly in the program folder on your device (maybe there are problems with your card space)

I was able to eventually get everything working again by manually removing all pieces from both the pc and mobile device after doing the un-install. Probably not the best solution, but the end result is what counts. So far I love the app despite the issues I've experienced.
