Humalog Mix 50/50

Hi,

hat hier jemand schon die neue (jedenfalls hier neue) Humalog Mischung ausprobiert?

Ich wurde am 17 Dezember auf das Insulin gesetzt und konnt auch mit strikter
Diät keine Kontrolle erreichen. Benutze nun wider Humalog und Lantus.

Ich interessiere mich ob andere mit der Mischung mehr Erfolg hatten...

also ich hab das beides und war bis zu meiner remission sehr zu frieden.. weil das humalog sehr schnell wirkt und die KE sehr gut abdeckt (außer bei pizza und bananen *schimpf* ;D)
das lantus is auch sehr gut weil nur einmal spritzen und ideale abdeckung :super:

I loooked at your posts until now so I learned that you prefer english - and I try to answer you in English although your question was asked n pretty good German!

Humalog Mix 50 is a pre-mixed Insulin, 50% Humalog and 50% "slow insulin" (sort of a "Humalog-NPH").
so you have aways the same mixture of quick and slow insulins in your pen - I hope you use  pens?

And I think it is very difficult to get good results with a premixed insulin - you cao do it, but than you  have to follow strict rules: how much you eat, when you eat, how much sports.... and even then, it does not always work - as you have seen.

now you use two different insulins, the Lantus and the Humalog.

In our country, this would mean that you do sort of an individualised intensive therapy - taking different Units of Humalog with every meal, and once or twice a day a dose of the Lantus. And eating, doing sports .... at every time of the day.

But I know that in other countries, like US, people do not get easily training for this sort of therapy - so I would like to know what you do with the Lantus ad the Humalog? How do you use them?

In any case, I am sure you are abslutely right when you think that  life is easier with 2 differnet insulins than with a premixed one!

Moin moin Mischka,

hier geht es nicht um eine Mischung mit Lantus (NovoNordisk). Es wird Humalog (Lilly) mit einem NPH-Insulin gemischt in einem Verhältnis von 50 : 50 und in einen Fertig-Pen verpackt.

  :mauer:    Sorry, mir ist gerade ein böser Denkfehler unterlaufen   :mauer:

Lantus ist nicht von NovoNordisk.  Aber es wird auch kein Lantus verwendet, sondern ein anderes mittelfristig wirkendes NPH. Von NovoNordisk gibt es eine Mischung aus Actrapid und Protaphan in verschiedenen Mischungsverhältnissen, da wird meines Wisens nach (will nichts heissen) auch kein Levemir verwendet.
